Faux Window Installation Instructions

 

These instructions apply for mounting to any surface. Sheathing, siding, metal, stucco etc. They simply require the appropriate fasteners specific to each. 

 

  1. Position the Lite Panel
    • Place the lite panel in the desired installation location.
    • Make sure the panel is level, square, and properly centered.
    • The lite panel and trim piece will be shipped separately.
  2. Predrill the Mounting Holes
    • Predrill mounting holes around the perimeter of the lite panel.
    • Space the holes approximately 8"–12" apart.
    • The mounting holes are made through the face of the lite panel only.
    • Do not drill mounting holes through the lites.
  3. Countersink the Mounting Holes
    • Countersink each mounting hole so the screw heads can sit flush or slightly below the face of the lite panel.
    • Avoid excessive countersinking that could weaken or damage the panel.
  4. Apply Construction Adhesive — Optional
    • Construction adhesive may be applied to the back of the lite panel before installation.
    • Adhesive is optional and may be used in addition to the mounting screws.
  5. Fasten the Lite Panel
    • Position the lite panel against the wall, sheathing, or other suitable substrate.
    • Install screws through the predrilled and countersunk mounting holes and into the substrate.
    • Use a screw type appropriate for the substrate.
    • Tighten the screws until the heads are seated flush in the countersinks.
    • Do not overtighten the screws.
  6. Position the Trim
    • After the lite panel is securely mounted, place the trim over the lite panel.
    • Fit and center the trim evenly around the lite panel.
    • The trim should cover the lite-panel mounting screw heads.
  7. Fasten the Trim
    • Secure the trim using brad nails, trim screws, construction adhesive, or a combination of these methods.
    • Locate the brad nails independently from the lite-panel mounting screws.
    • Do not use the same holes as the lite-panel mounting screws.
    • If construction adhesive is used, apply it to the back of the trim before positioning.


 

 

General Installation Notes: Make sure the installation surface is clean, dry, flat, and suitable for the selected fasteners and adhesive. Follow the fastener and construction-adhesive manufacturer's recommendations. Avoid overtightening fasteners, which could distort or damage the PVC components. Painting is optional but can be done easily when using a paint suitable for PVC. Follow paint manufacturer’s recommendations.
